My Flowered Donut's tutorial is up! :-)
Flowered Donut (Lapis)
Flowered Donut (Lapis)

This is the second Flowered Donut I made and I can't wait to finish its necklace and get started with a new one! I want to try new colors and different embellishments.
I hope you're going to have fun too! :-)
Here's my lil Tuto.

If you need more inspiration and instructions for making small beaded flowers, check out 'The Beader's Floral' book by Liz Thornton & Jill Devon.
It's definitely one of my favorite books!
Here is where I got my copy:

A new colorway and a tuto coming up soon! :-)

I spent my New Year's Eve fighting with this uncooperative donut which didn't want to be bezeled.
It kept jumping out of the peyote strip, but in the end I won the battle and the bugger is finally trapped! *Grin*

Update on the Flowered Donut

Here's the back of the flowered donut and the beginning of the stiff kind of twisted herringbone rope that will go with it.
There are a couple more pictures Here.

A new experiment...
Flowered Donut
Flowered Donut
The other night I was beading the ring part of a toggle clasp and decided to try to work it starting from the inner side and zip it on the outer side, instead of the other way around. It turned out great.
While I was beading it, it looked like a flared eyelet, so I had an idea about trying to bead the inner part of a stone donut. So far it seems to be working. ;-)

The donut I chose for this pendant is a very pale green, almost white jade and it measures 55 mm.
I had to bead the bezel of the donut twice because the first time I put too many beads. Rats!
For the center I bezeled a 14 mm Rivoli and decorated it with fresh water pearls, firepolished beads and beaded petals I "borrowed" and adjusted to the Rivoli, from a flower I found in 'The Beader's Floral' book by Liz Thornton & Jill Devon.
I beaded all the back of the Rivoli with 15/0s and then started a peyote tube that fits exactly inside the donut's hole. Now the trick is to increase the tube's beads on the back side of the hole, so that the tube flares out and stays flat on top of the donut, securing the flower. It should hold up by itself, but I will probably make some beaded rays that will go from the central ring to the outer edge. I'll find out later on this evening. ;-)
There are more pics in my Work In Progress photo album.

I also finished the Double-Triple Spiral I was working on and added a few more photos and instructions to the Tutorial.

My first tutorial is up! :-)
Double Triple Spiral

I've been working non stop for about 17 hours on this thing (the instructions, not the necklace; that one took a bit longer)! I started around midnight last night and now it's 5:30 PM!
My neck is hurting, my eyes are crossing, but I'm happy I have a little something for you. :-)
I hope you like it and that my pics and instructions are understandable.

Lentils & Donuts Necklace. Shell beads, Freshwater Pearls, Size 11/0 and 15/0 Japanese seed beads. Beaded toggle clasp, twisted Herringbone rope, Peyote bezels and connectors.

This poor necklace has been neglected since June, but I started working on it again yesterday and tonight I finally finished it.
I have 3 bezeled lentils left. Not sure yet what I'm going to do with them. Maybe a bracelet, or a pair of earrings and a pendant. We'll see.

Mauna Loa ~ Days 41, 42 & 43...It's DONE!
Mauna Loa
Mauna Loa

Over 200 hours of work, but it's finally done and I'm happy with the way it turned out! :-)

The base is made with bezeled Lava beads and free form/sculptural peyote stitch with matte, opaque and AB black seed beads in size 8/0, 11/0 (round and triangles) and 15/0.There are also black AB Czech Fire Polished beads 3mm and 4mm.

The embellishments (Ferns, Proteas, Ohia Lehua flowers and leaves, Ohelo berries and leaves) are all done with size 15/0 seed beads, a few Delicas and a few gold plated Charlottes.
The Ohelo berries are 3mm round coral beads and the centers of the 2 Proteas are 12mm Swarovski Rivolis.

Let's see if now I can finish that poor neglected "Donuts & Lentils" necklace! ;-)
